Coles County Habitat for Humanity was established in 1989 and is a recognized affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. We are a nonprofit organization governed by a volunteer board and supported by the contributions of our generous donors and volunteers. We at Habitat for Humanity are dedicated helping hard-working partner families who work together with us to build their own homes and purchase them once they are completed. These partner famlies invests 200 to 500 hours of their own labor or "sweat equity" into the home. In return, these homes are sold to them at no profit and financed through an affordable no-interest loan. The homeowner's monthly mortgage payments help to fund the construction of additional Habitat homes. We build homes for families in the community of Coles County. To date, our organization has completed the construction of twwenty-three homes in Charleston and Mattoon. We currently have home sites available for construction in Ashmore, Charleston, Mattoon and Oakland. Click here to view alisting of our lots available in these communities.
